Privacy notice
What we keep, and why.
Short version: we keep what you send us for as long as it takes to answer you and plan your job, we don't sell or share it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Who this covers
This notice covers mistfire.ca and the forms on it. The site is operated by Mistfire, Calgary, Alberta. Questions about it go to hello@mistfire.ca.
What we collect
Only what you type or attach in a form: your name, phone number, email address, postal code, the situation, depth, heat, water and stage answers you pick, any notes, and, if you add one, a photo of the spot. Trade enquiries add your company and trade. We do not run advertising trackers or analytics cookies on this site.
What it is used for
- To reply to you, make the concept image you asked for, and give you a rough price.
- To plan and quote a job if you go ahead, including sharing the relevant details with the trades who would work on it (electrician, plumber, gas fitter, framer, fabricator, cabinet shop).
- Nothing else. We do not sell your details, add you to a newsletter, or pass your photo to anyone outside the job.
Your photo
The photo you send is used to place the fire in your space and send the picture back to you. To make that picture we may run it through an image-editing service; it is not published, used in marketing, or used to train anything. If you later want it shown as an example on this site, we would ask you first, in writing.
How forms are handled
Forms are processed by Netlify, the company that hosts this site, and delivered to our inbox by email. Netlify keeps a copy of submissions in its dashboard, which we clear periodically. Netlify's own privacy policy is at netlify.com/privacy. Our email is a standard hosted mailbox.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become jobs are deleted within a year. Job records (quote, drawings, invoices) are kept for as long as Alberta tax and warranty rules require.
Your choices
Email hello@mistfire.ca to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. We answer within a few business days. If you have a complaint about how we have handled personal information, you can also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
