About
A young company built around an old idea: fire people can touch.
Mistfire is an owner-run Calgary business. We design Dimplex Optimyst water-vapour fires into renovations and new builds, supply the unit at Dimplex's list price, and install it with licensed trades: the electrician runs the circuit, the plumber makes the tie-in, the gas fitter caps the old line, the fabricator cuts the stone, the framer builds the chase. One person to talk to, one number.
What we do
We start with the spot, not the product. An old fireplace, a media wall, a half wall, a kitchen island, a piece of furniture, a bar: each has one or two Optimyst units that fit and a build around them that has to be right about air, water, power and drafts. We draw it, we price the build honestly, and we make sure the wall, the counter or the cabinet is built to the manual before it closes up. Then we set the fire, connect it, and show you how to live with it.
The company is run by a working fireplace installer and service technician. That is the useful part: the person who quotes your job is the person who has had a fireplace apart, and who reads the installation manual before the sell sheet.
What we don't do
We don't make the flame. Dimplex does, and has for a long time; Optimyst is the water-vapour fire you have seen in hotel lobbies and restaurant bars. We don't mark the unit up: Dimplex sets one advertised price and we show it as its own line. We don't claim a track record we don't have yet. The pictures on this site are concept renders, labelled as such, until our own installs are photographed; the first real photos will be ours, and they replace the renders as they happen. We don't put anything on a page we can't point to in a Dimplex document or on our own quote.
Why water vapour
Because it goes where fire otherwise can't. Into a kitchen island with people leaning on it. Into a condo with no venting. Into a half wall a child brushes past. Into an old hearth without a gas fitter's blessing on a new line. It is mist and light, cool to the touch, and it costs a few cents an hour. Its price is a habit: a clean every couple of weeks and, in Calgary, softened water. We think that is a fair trade, and we say so on every page.
Where and how
Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks and Chestermere; further out by arrangement. Start with a photo through the form on any page, or write to hello@mistfire.ca. If you are a trade, the trades page has the planning sheets and the referral terms.
See it in my space
Start with a photo.
You get it back with the fire in it, plus a rough price for the build that fits. Usually within a couple of days. No obligation and no sales calls unless you ask for one.
- Take one photo of the wall, opening, counter or corner from where you usually sit. Phone is fine.
- We place the right unit for your depth, water and heat answers and send the picture back, labelled as a concept.
- You get a rough price: the unit at list price, the build as a range, and what a site visit would confirm.
Your photo is used only to make your render and is not shared. Prefer email? hello@mistfire.ca
